About the Role
Are you an experienced service charge finance leader ready to shape strategy at scale? This is a pivotal opportunity to lead and modernise a high-profile service charge function within one of London's largest housing associations.
As Head of Finance (Service Charge), you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the service charge finance function. You will ensure that service charges are fair, accurate, transparent, and fully compliant with legislation, while driving financial efficiency and sustainable income recovery across the organisation.
Reporting into senior Finance leadership, you will play a critical role in strengthening financial governance, improving the resident experience, and delivering meaningful transformation across systems and processes. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring both technical expertise and the ability to build trusted partnerships across Finance, Operations, Legal, and Resident Services.
As a senior member of the Finance team, you will champion a culture of customer centricity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and deliver the strategic direction for all service charge finance activities, aligning with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practice.
- Drive income recovery and cost efficiency across all tenures, balancing financial sustainability with resident affordability.
- Lead and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary team, fostering accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure joined-up and effective service charge management.
- Oversee the provision of clear, accurate, and timely service charge communications to residents, reinforcing a customer-first approach.
- Ensure effective use of financial systems (including D365) and reporting tools (such as Power BI) to deliver high-quality data, insight, and performance reporting.
- Lead transformation initiatives to modernise service charge processes, improve operational interfaces, and embed digital innovation where appropriate.
Experience
- Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and driving performance improvement.
- Extensive experience of business partnering with non-finance colleagues to influence and shape outcomes.
- Deep understanding of service charge legislation and financial regulation.
- Strong strategic thinking capability, including financial modelling and interpretation of complex data.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems such as D365 and BI tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience engaging at Executive level.

Qualifications
- CCAB-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) or equivalent professional experience in service charge financial leadership.
