As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of health and safety across office environments and content production activities, including filming both onsite and on external locations. A key focus is to simplify and digitise operational health and safety processes by streamlining risk assessments (including DSE assessments) and developing an accessible online health and safety portal that empowers staff to plan, assess, and deliver work safely.
You will act as a hands-on, trusted advisor supporting teams to ensure legal compliance while enabling fast-paced, creative work through practical and proportionate risk management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary operational health and safety lead, providing clear, pragmatic advice to staff and managers
- Managing health and safety arrangements across all office locations to ensure safe environments for staff, visitors, and contractors
- Ensuring compliance with UK health, safety, and fire safety legislation, including DSE Regulations, using a risk-based approach
- Overseeing contractor and supplier health and safety management, including RAMS review and on-site monitoring
- Collaborating with Facilities to maintain statutory inspections, fire safety, and building compliance
- Providing health and safety input into office changes, refurbishments, and workplace projects
- Leading health and safety planning for filming and content production activities both in office and on location
- Creating, reviewing, and approving filming-specific risk assessments and method statements
- Attending pre-production meetings and location recces to identify hazards and agree control measures
- Supporting safe setup and strike of filming equipment while maintaining business continuity and emergency access
- Redesigning and simplifying risk assessment processes to be clear, usable, and fit for purpose
- Developing and maintaining standardised risk assessment templates for office and filming activities
- Designing, implementing, and managing an online health and safety portal as system owner
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring lessons learned and actions implemented
- Ensuring RIDDOR reporting compliance and analysing incident trends to inform preventative action
- Maintaining accurate records and providing clear reporting to management
- Developing and coordinating health and safety training relevant to office and filming activities
- Delivering practical briefings and guidance to staff, freelancers, and managers
- Supporting and coordinating Fire Marshals, First Aiders, and safety representatives
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture that supports creativity and productivity
Experience
- Proven operational health and safety experience, ideally in media, creative, or office-based environments
- Strong ability to produce clear, practical risk assessments including for filming and non-routine activities
- Experience simplifying processes and creating user-friendly safety systems
- Confident communicator able to work effectively with creative and non-technical teams
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Fire Safety legislation
- Understanding of office-based risks and filming/content production hazards
- Working knowledge of contractor control and safe systems of work
- Experience developing and embedding health and safety management systems
- Ability to streamline or digitise risk assessment or compliance processes
- Experience supporting filming, events, or non-routine activities
- Incident investigation and audit/inspection experience
- Willingness to attend filming locations and work flexibly as required
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) – Essential
