About the Role
We have a new and exciting apprenticeship opportunity within our Highways Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking inspections of the highways network, responding to reports of defects, raising work orders, answering complaints, responding to insurance claims, and communicating with elected representatives. Additionally, the role will involve developing a detailed understanding of all roles within Highways Operations, including but not limited to asset management, land drainage management, streetworks operation, commissioning and sustainable transport, design and delivery teams, and planned and programme management teams. On successful completion of this apprenticeship, there is an opportunity for a permanent position within the team.
Experience
No specific experience required, but a willingness to learn is essential.
About You
We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, good IT skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude. You should be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, be articulate, and possess great people skills. This position is key for ensuring the council meets statutory obligations within the Highways Act 1980, requiring self-discipline and attention to detail.
Qualifications
To qualify for apprenticeship funding, you must hold a GCSE level C/equivalent in Maths and English and be able to present original qualification certificates. If you do not hold these qualifications, you must be committed to completing them via functional skills assessments as part of the apprenticeship. The standard requires candidates to have GCSE Maths 5/B and English 4/C grade. You should not apply for an apprenticeship unrelated to any qualifications you hold at the same or higher level than the apprenticeship you wish to apply for. You must also not be enrolled in another funded apprenticeship or further education programme at the time you start your new apprenticeship. Additionally, you must have the right to work and study in England and meet specific residency criteria.
