About the Role
We are seeking three full-time Housing Officers to join the Statutory Homelessness team within the Homelessness Prevention and Rough Sleeping Service. Two roles are fixed term for 2 years and one role is fixed term for 1 year. You will be part of a small, dynamic team responding to the City of London’s statutory homelessness needs and rough sleeping challenges, working in the unique setting of the Square Mile.

As a Housing Officer, you will work within the Statutory Housing Advice Service, taking applications and issuing decisions with a strong focus on quality, outcomes, and strength-based practice while working efficiently.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues in Rough Sleeping, Homelessness Health, the Pathways Team, Social Workers, Strengths-Based Practitioners, commissioned providers, and internal partners to ensure coordinated, safe, and effective support for those approaching the City.

Key responsibilities include assessing applicants’ housing needs, responding to public enquiries with accurate information, making arrangements for homeless people including temporary accommodation where appropriate, working collaboratively with commissioning and health partners, and championing anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive practice.

You will report to the Senior Housing Officer and contribute actively to developing services and the City of London Corporation’s response to homelessness and rough sleeping.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement and is based at Guildhall.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience as a Housing Officer with statutory homelessness responsibilities. Sound knowledge of homelessness and housing legislation including the Housing Act and Homelessness Reduction Act. Familiarity with Universal Credit is required; knowledge of the Renters Rights Act is advantageous but training will be provided.

About you
Committed to strengths-based and person-centred practice with confidence working across organisational boundaries. You should demonstrate a reflective, resilient, and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable people, openness to innovation and change, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications
Relevant housing or social care qualifications are desirable but not essential. A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning is expected.
