About the Role
At Peabody, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a safe, stable, and independent future, and you could be part of making that happen. We’re seeking a friendly, motivated Housing Support Worker to assist adults experiencing homelessness as they take important steps towards independence and long-term housing. This role focuses on guidance, encouragement, and practical support rather than personal care. You will help people rebuild confidence, develop life skills, and move forward in their lives.
As part of our team, you will:
- Support individuals in building essential life skills such as budgeting, managing benefits, and sustaining a tenancy
- Create a safe, positive, and non-judgemental environment where people feel respected and valued
- Encourage independence and support individuals to set and achieve their own goals
- Bring your own interests and personality (whether sport, wellbeing, practical skills, or creative activities) to engage and motivate
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure each person receives the right support
Peabody is committed to creating a workplace where you feel valued, included, and empowered, reflecting the same values we uphold for the people we support.
Experience
Some experience or transferable skills from housing, support work, outreach, health, or social care is desirable. Awareness of safeguarding, support planning, or key working is an advantage.
About you
You build strong, trusting relationships with adults, including those who may have experienced trauma, homelessness, or complex challenges. You bring empathy, resilience, and a person-centred approach. You are confident managing your own workload while being a strong team player. Good communication and basic IT skills are essential.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required, but a commitment to professional development and a positive, motivated attitude are important.
