About the Role
Waltham Forest Housing Association (WFHA) is a progressive, values-driven social housing provider with 328 homes across Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone and Chingford. We are tenant-focused, committed to tackling inequality, promoting inclusion, and are an anti-racist organisation. We have a diverse and engaged Board and staff team with excellent tenant satisfaction levels.
We are seeking a proactive and tenant-focused Income Co-ordinator to support effective rent collection, arrears recovery, and tenancy sustainment. You will monitor rent and service charge accounts, work with tenants at an early stage to prevent arrears escalating, agree affordable repayment plans, and signpost tenants to welfare benefits, debt advice, and financial support where needed. You will prepare arrears correspondence, maintain accurate records, support legal action, and attend court to represent the association.
This role also includes participation in the association’s out of hours on-call rota. This is a great opportunity to make a positive difference in our community-based housing association, helping tenants sustain their homes while supporting WFHA to maintain strong income performance.
We offer an agile working environment, workplace pension, life insurance, employee assistance programme, comprehensive induction, access to training and development, ICT support, and the chance to be part of a committed, small, close-knit team.
At WFHA, our values — Respect, Empower, Ambitious, Care and Honest — guide everything we do. If you are an experienced housing professional looking to make a positive impact in the lives of tenants and communities, we would love to hear from you.
Experience
Proven experience in income recovery and rent arrears management up to court action is essential.
About you
You will have strong communication and negotiation skills, good numeracy, and confidence using Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, and Teams. A firm but fair approach when working with tenants is required. You should be proactive, tenant-focused, and committed to supporting tenancy sustainment.
Qualifications
Relevant housing or income management qualifications are desirable but not essential. A positive attitude and commitment to the role are key.
