About the Role
As an Income Management Officer, you will hold a key technical role at the heart of Camden Council's financial operations, responsible for the accurate management and reconciliation of all Council income received—handling transactions valued at approximately £950 million per year. This role combines high-level financial investigation with essential day-to-day operations, including managing main and specialist suspense accounts and resolving unallocated income items. You will act as the main point of contact for income queries, prepare regular reports for Heads of Finance, and manage cash-handling processes, including security collection schedules. The role requires strict compliance with financial regulations such as PCIDSS and involves handling a high volume of work to maximise income and maintain robust financial records for the Borough. This is an office-based role requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite, with flexibility for additional days as needed. Some lifting is also required.
Experience
Detailed knowledge of income management, bank reconciliations, and suspense account management. Proven ability to review financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex queries with minimal supervision.
About you
Highly organised with the ability to meet strict deadlines for reconciliations and year-end reporting. Comfortable explaining complex financial issues clearly to both technical teams and non-finance staff. Positive approach to change with a track record of implementing process improvements. Experience supporting or guiding graduates and apprentices within a team is desirable.
Qualifications
Not explicitly stated, but relevant financial or accounting qualifications would be advantageous given the technical nature of the role.
