Income Officer - Court


Location
London Borough of Lewisham, primarily based at Laurence House in Catford. This role operates a hybrid working approach with a combination of office and home working.
Hours
Full time, standard local government working hours.
Salary
£37,509 to £41,637 per annum (Career Graded Scale 6 / SO1). Starting salary depends on experience, with £40,404 per annum for those with one year’s experience as an Income Officer in social housing. All appointments are offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.
About the Role
As an Income Officer, you will manage a caseload of rent accounts, supporting residents to sustain their tenancies while maximising rental income for the Council. You will provide advice, support, and early intervention to prevent rent arrears, and take timely recovery action when necessary. The role involves conducting home visits, attending court hearings, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to resolve issues and achieve positive outcomes for residents and the Council. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Experience
Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment is desirable. Experience as an Income Officer in social housing is advantageous but not essential.

Confidence in having difficult conversations, strong organisational skills, resilience, and the ability to manage a varied caseload with competing priorities are essential.
