About the Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer within the Fostering Team, you will play a vital role in monitoring and reviewing the quality and effectiveness of care standards provided by the council’s foster carers. This involves chairing independent annual and ad hoc fostering review meetings to ensure high standards are maintained.
You will identify strengths and gaps in the social work foster care assessment process and the support offered to carers. Your role includes recognizing practices that do not deliver good outcomes and constructively challenging these, both informally and formally, to improve practice.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires an Enhanced DBS check. Camden also offers the DBS update service.
Interviews for this position will be held on 22nd July 2026.
Experience
Extensive experience of chairing complex meetings is essential. You should have senior or managerial experience leading multiple complex cases and supervising staff. Advocacy skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with families, internal staff, and partner agencies within the professional network are required.
Familiarity with Camden’s ways of working and the ability to develop within the role are important.

Qualifications
A Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England are mandatory for this role.
