Location
Tooley St, London. Applicants must be based in Kent or London and willing to support a young person in Kent or the Croydon area.

Hours
Volunteer commitment of at least one visit per month, usually on weekends, for a minimum of two years.

Salary
Unpaid volunteer role. All travel and activity expenses will be covered.

About the Role
Be a hero to a young person in care by becoming an Independent Visitor (IV) – a volunteer mentor and trusted friend. As an IV, you will visit a young person in care once a month to enjoy supportive and fun activities together, such as going to the cinema, bowling, exploring parks, or simply having a chat. You will be a consistent, caring adult outside their professional network, providing stability and encouragement. This is a long-term role requiring a commitment of at least two years to build a strong, stable relationship. You may also keep in touch between visits by weekly calls or messages if the young person wishes, and occasionally join group events. This role is especially important as many young people in care face instability and frequent change, and having a consistent adult who listens and supports them can be life changing.
