About the Role
Join HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as an Intelligence Analyst Team Leader within the Fraud Investigation Service (FIS), a specialist unit tackling serious fraud and bespoke tax avoidance through civil and criminal investigations. You will lead the Fraud Investigation Analysis (FIA) team in Croydon, supporting investigators across Croydon, Reading, and Portsmouth. Your role involves providing strategic direction, managing team performance, and ensuring delivery of high-quality analytical products that support complex investigations into tax evasion, smuggling, labour market abuses, and other serious offences.
As a technical specialist and leader, you will manage a team of up to seven Higher Officer Intelligence Analysts, motivate and develop your team, and oversee workload allocation to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will ensure the use of appropriate analytical techniques, maintain quality assurance, and support new analysts through training and probation.
As part of the FIA Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lead projects aligned with strategic priorities. This role requires occasional travel and overnight stays.

Experience
- Proven experience managing or leading a team in an intelligence environment such as counter fraud, serious organised crime, national security, cyber threat, financial crime, or law enforcement.
- Experience working in an analytical role within an intelligence setting or closely with intelligence analysts.
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvements through others and lead initiatives to enhance processes, efficiency, or analytical capability.

Qualifications
- Must have completed HMRC’s Intelligence Analysis Professional Trial Period; OR hold an analysis qualification recognised by the Professional Head of Intelligence Analysis (PHIA) or the College of Policing’s Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) such as GIAT or NAP; OR hold an equivalent qualification; OR be willing to undertake training if not already qualified.
