About the Role
Are you a dynamic and experienced social worker passionate about improving outcomes for children and families? Tower Hamlets is seeking a visionary Children’s Interfaith Safeguarding Co-ordinator to support the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service in assisting our faith and religious communities in fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities. This unique role offers the opportunity to develop skills beyond the usual social work remit and provides valuable networking opportunities within the community. You will be actively involved in the ongoing development of this position within Children’s Services.

As the Children’s Interfaith Safeguarding Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for establishing and nurturing relationships between faith and belief groups in Tower Hamlets and statutory services to promote best safeguarding practices. You will support these groups in understanding their statutory responsibilities by providing information on safeguarding children, including raising awareness about preventing radicalisation, extremism, private fostering, and honour-based violence.

Key responsibilities include acting in an advisory capacity to support faith groups in delivering training, awareness raising, and improving safeguarding practices alongside social workers, partner agencies, and Early Help. You will also support the Local Authority Designated Officer in cases where allegations are made against staff in faith-based organisations and ensure these organisations are kept informed of lessons learned from Child Practice Safeguarding Reviews, local reviews, and multi-agency audits.

Please note: You will be expected to be office based at the Town Hall at least 3 days per week.
