About the Role
At Queensmith, we understand that our greatest asset is our exceptional team. The Jewellery CAD Designer is an integral member of our creative team, responsible for creating CAD designs and prototypes for both our core collection and bespoke orders. This role requires working quickly and efficiently while maintaining a keen eye for detail and flexibility in approach. Clear and articulate communication, excellent time management, record-keeping, and organisational skills are essential to ensure maximum efficiency.
Key responsibilities include designing client and stock pieces from order specifications, producing cast-ready files and liaising directly with metal casters, assisting in collection design with illustrative renders, and collaborating with sales and production teams to meet internal deadlines. The role also involves using 3D printing technology to provide waxes promptly for client appointments, occasional client-facing interactions for design and manufacturing advice, supporting senior CAD team members, training new CAD staff, adhering to deadlines with high-quality output, following up on designs awaiting approval, and assisting with laser engraving and laser cutting for merchandising when required.
Experience
- Technical understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes
- Ability to produce intermediate bespoke client work
- Confident in covering the range of the core collection
- Working knowledge of relevant technology including 3D printers, laser cutter, laser engraver, CNC, etc.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated high level of quality control
- Adherence to company security procedures
