About the Role
This is a 12-month fixed term secondment opportunity within Lambeth Council’s Public Health Team. You will lead the strategic review, planning, and commissioning of substance misuse services, working closely with programme managers, Public Health Consultants, specialists, and other commissioners. The role requires reviewing NHS and voluntary-sector substance misuse services and developing a comprehensive commissioning strategy to improve health outcomes for Lambeth residents. You will operate within a challenging financial environment and be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. The role offers the chance to influence services dedicated to delivering high quality and responsive support to the community. Depending on business needs, there may be opportunities to work across other Public Health portfolios. This position is part of Lambeth’s bold ambitions under the Lambeth 2030 Plan, serving a diverse and vibrant borough with over 317,600 residents.
Experience
- Proven experience in strategic review and planning of services, ideally substance misuse or related sectors such as housing
- Experience drafting commissioning strategies
- Managing and allocating resources from multi-million pound budgets
- Overseeing governance, decision making, and approvals for diverse contracts
- Leading complex discussions with service providers, elected members, and senior management
