About the Role
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulates financial services firms in the UK to ensure financial markets remain fair, thriving, and effective. By joining us, you will play a key role in protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of financial services in the UK.
We are recruiting a Lead Associate to join the Engagement & Strategy Team within the Supervision, Policy & Competition (SPC) division, specifically in the Consumer Investments (CI) department. This team has a broad remit covering both authorised and unauthorised activities, working to reduce harm from non-compliant financial promotions, scams, fraud, high-risk investments, and other activities that may cause consumer harm or financial loss.
The Engagement & Strategy Team is critical in identifying and assessing emerging risks through horizon scanning, risk analysis, and strategic project work. The team manages the department’s risk framework and project portfolio, shaping proactive interventions that mitigate harm, support market integrity, and deliver better outcomes for consumers across the UK.
Key responsibilities include leading high-profile supervisory projects with robust analysis and evidence-based assessments to influence regulatory outcomes and protect consumers; identifying emerging and complex risks across financial markets; applying intelligence, data, and cross-FCA collaboration to spot issues early; evaluating innovative and higher-risk financial promotions such as cryptoassets and non-mainstream investments; developing creative approaches to reduce harm; and coaching and supporting colleagues while shaping team priorities to focus resources on areas with the greatest consumer and market impact.
