About the Role
At Via, our mission is to provide the best health and wellbeing support to as many people as possible, helping them to change their lives for the better. Last year, we supported over 11,000 people across the UK affected by alcohol and drug use. Everything we do is driven by our values: Care - care for people is at the heart of everything we do; Be human - we are accessible, genuine and humble, always learning; Do the right thing - we’re open, honest and inclusive, and we get things done.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and growing organisation as a Lead Practitioner Psychologist (equivalent NHS AFC band 8b). You will provide clinical supervision across a range of our drug and alcohol services, including focused support to our Kingston service where you will offer consultancy, supervision, training, and support for our group programme.
This well-supported post is ideal for practitioners seeking to step into a leadership position while continuing to develop diverse skills that contribute to trauma-informed working. You will be part of a thriving psychology professionals’ team that meets regularly to provide support, CPD opportunities, share learning, and collaborate to implement a shared vision for psychologically-informed practice across the organisation.
The role involves providing clinical supervision to services without a dedicated in-service psychological professional, including young people’s services (supervision can be delivered online where geographically challenging). Up to four days per week will be dedicated to supervision, with one day embedded in the Kingston service, playing a key role in shaping culture and processes.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will help ensure psychological thinking is a golden thread throughout our work, supporting development through consultancy, reflective practice, supervision, training, group programme support, and clinical case management. You will also support other psychological professionals to develop and oversee the delivery of high-quality psychological assessments and interventions.
This is not just a job – you’ll help people rebuild their lives, reconnect with family and friends, return to work or education, and much more. Via offers community and residential services for substance use, nurtures new ideas, puts co-production at the heart of what we do, and provides clinicians with the support to explore and grow.
Experience
Proven experience in clinical psychology practice, ideally within drug and alcohol or related services. Experience providing clinical supervision and consultancy is essential. Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and trauma-informed approaches is highly desirable.
About you
Compassionate with excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be motivated to support and develop psychological practice across diverse services and able to work flexibly between face-to-face and remote supervision. A commitment to Via’s values of care, being human, and doing the right thing is essential.
Qualifications
Qualified Practitioner Psychologist with registration appropriate to the role (equivalent to NHS AFC band 8b). Relevant post-qualification training and experience in clinical supervision and trauma-informed care are desirable.
