About the Role
We are seeking a confident Maintenance Assistant to perform a variety of day-to-day maintenance tasks to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional condition. This role will make a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Hospital Harrow.

Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides recovery-focused services treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including specialist diagnostic, assessment, and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Our acute inpatient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with diverse psychological and emotional challenges, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include undertaking planned and remedial maintenance works to keep plant, services, and vehicles operational, maintaining accurate records of call-outs and routine checks as directed. Tasks will involve decorating, basic joinery, plumbing, painting, and general building work. You will also maintain equipment, services, and vehicles, comply with safe working practices, report faulty equipment and potential hazards, and check fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices, and fire emergency lights.

Experience
Experience in a similar maintenance role or recent self-employed maintenance work is preferred. Experience in electrical, plumbing, or construction industries is advantageous.

About you
Skilled at DIY and general maintenance with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and record detailed, accurate maintenance information. You should be friendly, conscientious, an excellent team member, and have a positive attitude. A car driver is advantageous.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required, but a willingness to learn and undertake further training through our apprenticeship scheme is encouraged.
