About the Role
We are seeking a Physical Health Lead Nurse (RGN) to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. The hospital provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment offering personalised treatment for service users with eating disorders or personality disorders across two separate wards. Our team is dedicated to creating a cheerful atmosphere that supports recovery and personal transformation through a variety of therapies including psychodynamic, family, occupational, art, drama, and complementary therapies. We strongly believe in patient-centred care, involving service users in shaping their treatment and all aspects of hospital life.

In this role, you will establish, lead, and coordinate evidence-based physical health initiatives across the service. You will oversee ongoing monitoring of patients’ physical health, including annual health checks, in close collaboration with ward Doctors and Physical Health Lead Nurses. You will lead infection control practices in line with national clinical standards and provide health promotion and education programmes in partnership with the Dietician and ward Physical Health Leads. Additionally, you will coordinate physical health screening across the service, including access to cervical screening for women.

You will work closely with ward Doctors and Physical Health Leads to ensure patients have access to primary care services such as dental and eye checks. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, company policies, and national guidance related to physical health within mental health services is essential. You will contribute to national and clinical audits to maintain high standards of care and ensure comprehensive physical health records are accurately maintained in MyPath and other data systems.

Ensuring the availability of required medical equipment and the safe use of medical devices through staff education and audits will also be key responsibilities.
