About the Role

Join our Occupational Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Churchill to support recovery and rehabilitation activities within the integrated care pathway. Cygnet Churchill is a 56-bed inpatient service for men in London, comprising three wards: two emergency acute admissions services (Juniper Ward and Palm Ward) and two high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) services (Elm Court and Mulberry Court). The occupational therapy department is exceptionally well resourced, with facilities designed specifically for rehabilitation including a therapy piazza with activity rooms, music room, art room, barber shop, library, gym, internet café, therapy kitchens, dining room, and therapy garden.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities tailored to the needs, choices, and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support patients throughout their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities include delivering planned activities under the direction of the ward Occupational Therapist and MDT, assisting with day-to-day departmental duties, undertaking assessment and intervention programmes delegated by senior occupational therapists, contributing ideas and facilitating safe events and activities, delivering one-to-one and group interventions, and implementing individual care plans that promote choice and independence.

Experience
Previous experience is not explicitly required; however, an interest in mental health and occupational therapy is essential. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team or healthcare setting is advantageous.
