About the Role
It’s an exciting time to join London South Bank University (LSBU) Group. With the launch of our new LSBU Group Strategy, Connecting, we’re shaping the future of tertiary education for a global, technology-driven economy – rooted in London. LSBU Group comprises London South Bank University, South Bank Colleges and South Bank Academies, creating a powerful network of learners, staff, alumni, employers and policymakers united in our mission to challenge social and economic inequalities through applied education, insight and partnership.
We are seeking a motivated Management Accountant to join our Financial Performance team within Finance & Management Information on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. You will help improve LSBU’s financial planning, decision-making and control by providing clear, reliable management information to colleagues across the University.
This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of the University’s financial reporting. You will help produce key financial returns for our regulator, the Office for Students, including the Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) return, the Annual Financial Return (AFR) and elements of the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey. You will also support the processes behind these returns, such as staff time surveys and reviewing data from core business systems.
The role includes supporting the monthly forecasting process, maintaining forecasting templates and a suite of financial reports for budget holders, and providing ad hoc financial analysis and modelling for senior members of the team.
At LSBU Group, you will contribute to a vibrant and dynamic culture fuelled by purpose, built around people, and genuinely diverse. You will be trusted and recognised for your unique contribution and be part of a great team turning passion into purpose.
Experience
You will be in the final stages of qualifying with a professional accountancy body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent), with experience in management accounting including budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and analysis. Experience of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) or a similar planning and budgeting system is desirable. You will have advanced Excel skills and be comfortable working with large datasets and reconciling data from different sources.
About you
You have a keen eye for detail, good time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines. You work well in close partnership with finance and non-finance colleagues in a supportive, collegiate way. You produce clear process documentation, keep reports relevant as requirements change, and share best practice in data analysis with the wider team.
Qualifications
Final stages of qualification with a recognised professional accountancy body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) are required.
