Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additional standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training completion.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Mogden STW. You will ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational. Your responsibilities will include investigating plant failures, diagnosing complex faults, and performing repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions. You will provide technical advice, support, and training to technical trainees when required.
Equipment you will work on includes motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment. You will also complete statutory checks as required.
Health and Safety compliance is essential, and you will always work safely following all guidance and procedures.
All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card will be provided.
Experience
Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or waste treatment environment is highly desirable. Ability to investigate and repair complex mechanical faults efficiently is essential.
About you
You must be physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. A strong awareness of health and safety issues is crucial. You should be proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A valid driving licence is essential.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification is required.
