About the Role
Join Wates Property Services and help keep critical buildings running across the South East. As a Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering first-class maintenance, fault finding and compliance across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties. Whether you are an experienced mobile engineer or currently working in a static site environment, you will ensure clients' building services remain safe, compliant and operating at peak performance.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and complex fault diagnosis on commercial gas systems such as boilers, burners, water heaters and associated mechanical plant. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors and internal teams, acting as a trusted technical expert while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Key duties include delivering planned maintenance, diagnosing and repairing faults, conducting gas safety inspections and certification, performing gas tightness testing and flue gas analysis, maintaining accurate records via CAFM systems, providing technical guidance, managing minor installation projects, and building strong client relationships.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience within a commercial maintenance or Facilities Management environment
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience using CAFM systems and mobile technology
- Experience working within Facilities Management contracts is desirable

Qualifications
- Current ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications including: COCN1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1
- Domestic Gas Qualifications including: CCN1, CENWAT
- COCNP1 and TPCP1/1A
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating, Gas Engineering or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence (required for mobile positions)
Desirable Qualifications and Training
- OFTEC or LPG qualifications
- G3 Unvented Hot Water Qualification
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Legionella Awareness or Responsible Person training
- Knowledge of BMS and HVAC systems
