About the Role
The Tissue Biology Group is pioneering spatial single-cell genomics technologies and high-throughput screening platforms to understand how environmental chemicals cause disease by revealing, cell by cell, how exposures remodel tissues and drive disease. This postdoctoral position focuses on developing and applying methods for spatial lineage tracing and single-cell multiomics, building upon the Slide-tags platform to read cellular histories while preserving spatial context within tissues.
The successful candidate will lead efforts to resolve cell lineage in situ by developing experimental and computational methods that recover lineage information alongside spatial coordinates. This mixed wet/dry laboratory role involves generating data at the bench and taking primary responsibility for data analysis, supported by LMS core facilities in genomics, flow cytometry, microscopy, and scientific computing.
This is a 3-year fixed-term position offering the opportunity to shape the project direction within a collaborative and supportive group culture that values curiosity, creativity, mentorship, and scientific growth. The role includes opportunities to present at international meetings, publish methods and findings, and collaborate widely.
*Please note the position includes structured mentoring and active support for training.*

Requirements

Experience
- Hands-on wet laboratory experience in molecular biology with willingness to generate data at the bench from the start.
- Experience in experimental genomics and/or computational analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, with demonstrable aptitude for both.
- Programming skills in R and/or Python for sequencing data analysis.
- Experience with single-cell or spatial genomics library preparation, DNA methylation sequencing, microfluidics, tissue handling, cryosectioning, immunofluorescence, FACS, and HPC environments are advantageous.
- Evidence of planning and executing research projects, with a record of accomplishments in method development and data dissemination.

About you
- Creative and persistent problem solver with a keen interest in learning new skills across wet and dry lab work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively, motivate others, and organise own work with minimal supervision.
- Flexible, disciplined, and open-minded team player with a strong regard for confidentiality and security.
- Willingness to undertake necessary training and contribute to a positive lab environment.

Qualifications
- Essential: PhD (or equivalent experience) in genomics, molecular biology, computational biology, bioengineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Desirable: First-author publication, preprint, or manuscript in preparation.
- Demonstrable strength in either experimental genomics or computational sequencing data analysis, with capacity or willingness to develop skills in the complementary area.
- Experience or interest in lineage tracing, clonal dynamics, somatic mutation analysis, and reproducible research workflows is advantageous.
