About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and run the music department at Lift Rawlett, part of Lift Schools MAT. Lift Rawlett is a secondary school on a transformational journey led by Executive Principal Jasmine Woodard, who has a strong track record of delivering school improvement. You will lead, shape, and deliver excellent music classes within a department boasting fantastic facilities and impressive GCSE results, with 80% achieving 5+ grades. This role offers the rare chance to teach in a way that you believe delivers the best education and to influence how music is taught across the school. You will report to Christina Pirrie, Assistant Vice Principal and Head of the Curriculum Team, who has extensive experience and whole-school responsibilities. The contract is fixed term initially until July 18th, 2025, with a hopeful extension or permanent appointment. The role is available to start ASAP.

Requirements

Experience
Proven track record of delivering music lessons and a broad, balanced curriculum that supports student achievement and engagement.

About you
Ability to create a positive learning environment where all students feel supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Skilled in designing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback to raise attainment. Collaborative approach to working with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support students’ personal development and promote inclusivity.

Qualifications
Relevant teaching qualifications and experience in music education are expected. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils is essential. Candidates should be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
