About the Role
We are recruiting a Neighbourhood Safeguarding Officer to join our motivated Neighbourhood Team, delivering high-quality housing services within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH). This key role focuses on managing casework related to Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding, and Hoarding, ensuring cases are handled consistently and effectively to achieve the best outcomes for affected residents. You will support and advise colleagues across the Council on these matters in line with relevant legislation and best practice.
Key responsibilities include acting as the first point of contact for staff seeking advice and guidance on safeguarding concerns, coordinating and managing cases in accordance with policies and legislation. You will support the development and delivery of training, briefings, and inductions, investigate incidents where necessary, and promote awareness of Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding, and Hoarding.
You will carry out regular case reviews and hold panel meetings to ensure effective case management, provide risk assessments and safety planning support to survivors and residents, and represent LBTH at key borough meetings such as MARAC and VAWG. As a champion of the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) project, you will support continuous development to safeguard victims and contribute to achieving DAHA accreditation.
The role requires proactive collaboration with other council departments and external agencies including IDVAs, DASH RIC, Police, social services, and specialist support services to ensure information sharing and safeguarding of families. You will also work to improve reporting structures and data quality, contribute to policy reviews and updates, and maintain professional behaviour aligned with LBTH values and code of conduct.
Additional duties may be assigned by the line manager or Head of Service to support the Directorate.
Experience
- Proven experience in managing safeguarding cases, particularly related to Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding, and Hoarding.
- Experience in providing advice, guidance, and training to staff.
- Ability to coordinate multi-agency meetings and represent the organisation at external forums.
- Experience working within relevant legislation, policies, and best practice frameworks.
