About the Role
As a Network Operations Supervisor, you will support the safe delivery of Network Operation activities within your allocated area of the M25 network. Your leadership will ensure planned and reactive operations run smoothly, challenges are resolved, and targets are consistently met. Leading a team of Incident Support Unit (ISU) Operatives, Emergency Support Teams (ERT) Operatives, and Recovery Operatives (Denham only), you will promote a safety-first culture where everyone is committed to doing their work in the right way.
You will ensure teams are appropriately briefed, working efficiently, and have the right resources to succeed. You will also support the delivery of various inspection regimes, maintaining high standards of work across all activities, and contribute to incident management as the Bronze Command on the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage teams on-site, including all ISU, ERT, and Recovery operatives
- Carry out litter surveys, gate stops, and safety tours
- Update the Maintenance Management System to capture all relevant data of works activities
- Ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver all works activities
- Support the development and implementation of RAMS and procedures
- Prepare and deliver daily work briefings outlining methodology, hazards, risks, and control measures
- Deliver detailed debriefs at the end of each shift to identify issues and incorporate lessons learned
- Support the use of data devices among the team for accurate reporting and record-keeping
Safety and Compliance:
Lead by example to ensure all activities meet safety standards and comply with systems, processes, and procedures. Raise awareness of issues affecting safe network operation and report accordingly.
Leadership:
Manage day-to-day people management tasks including performance monitoring, absence management, overtime, and annual leave requests. Support team growth through ongoing feedback, training, and communication. Deliver regular toolbox talks.

Experience
- Appropriate CSCS qualification
- SMSTS/SSSTS certification
- Experience in highways maintenance operations or similar transferable experience
- Team leadership and management experience driving performance and productivity
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer-focused mindset
