About the Role
Help shape safer, healthier and more sustainable construction. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to provide expert guidance, visible leadership and practical support across our projects. You’ll work closely with operational teams, clients, designers and supply chain partners to strengthen our positive safety culture and help deliver our Zero Harm ambitions. This role covers projects in our Southern portfolio such as Piccadilly Line Upgrade, Cockfosters and Stratford.
Key responsibilities include leading the local delivery of our Zero Harm strategy and action plan through visible, credible leadership; providing project teams with trusted technical advice and practical HS&E support; building collaborative relationships with internal teams, clients, regulators, industry forums and supply chain partners; agreeing and regularly reviewing risk-based service levels with project teams to maintain compliance and assurance; carrying out site inspections, documenting findings and identifying both risks and opportunities for improvement; supporting investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses in line with company standards; partnering with design and engineering teams to eliminate or reduce HS&E risk through design; contributing high-quality HS&E responses to bids, proposals and pre-qualification questionnaires; and challenging established ways of working, sharing successes and mentoring colleagues across the HS&E community.
Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities. As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasn’t rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too. You’ll have the freedom to shape the package that’s right for you and your life. Key benefits include smart working with up to 40% remote working where roles allow, 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata), family friendly policies including 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave, pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more.
Experience
Broad experience of complex construction and civil engineering projects, or a comparable sector. Experience of project planning, project management and working to budgets. Competence in incident investigation and the ability to produce clear, formal HS&E reports.
About you
A strong understanding of the UK health and safety regulatory framework. The confidence to influence, engage and communicate effectively at every level. Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal teams, clients, regulators, industry forums and supply chain partners.
Qualifications
A relevant Health & Safety Diploma, NVQ, degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification. Applicants with a certificate who are working towards a Level 6 qualification and bring relevant site experience may also be considered. Chartered Membership of IOSH, or active progress towards it.
