About the Role
As an autonomous Occupational Therapy Technician (OTT), you will deliver pre-formulated OT input to children, young people and their families/carers in community sites allocated by the Occupational Therapist. You will maintain effective liaison between school staff, other professionals, families/carers and Occupational Therapy staff to ensure coordinated care. Your responsibilities will include basic equipment management, monitoring inventory of sensory-based and other therapeutic equipment, and completing appropriate orders with support from the Occupational Therapist. You will work flexibly within a multi-disciplinary team, attending meetings as directed, and undertake delegated tasks from the Occupational Therapist. Effective communication with children, young people, carers, family members, school staff and other professionals is essential. You will manage a daily allocated caseload using prioritisation and time management skills, seeking senior support when necessary. You will be professionally and legally responsible for your own practice and accountable for all aspects of treatment delivered, ensuring a high standard of clinical care, including joining The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) as an associate member. You will deliver OT input collaboratively, respecting diversity, ethnicity, cultural and religious beliefs, and the right to informed consent. You will be aware of your practice limitations and seek advice from senior practitioners as needed. Safekeeping and confidentiality of electronic and paper records, including use of the Trust electronic patient records system (e.g. SystmOne), is required. Administrative tasks such as filing, typing, data input, uploading documents, distribution of reports and programs, and responding to queries must be completed in a timely manner. You will adhere to legal and Trust policies and procedures including Infection Control and Manual Handling. You will be responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment, ensuring infection control and safety standards are maintained. Regular clinical and management supervision sessions and annual appraisals are part of the role. You must ensure all statutory and mandatory training is kept up to date and recorded on the Trust database (e.g. LDZ). This list is not exhaustive; please refer to the attached Job Description for full details.
