Hours
Full Time (hours not specified)
Salary
£30,630 per annum
About the Role
As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will support Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in both administrative and clinical tasks. Your administrative duties will include assisting with day-to-day tasks such as uploading reports, letters, programmes, and assessments to System 1, supporting the discharge process, typing reports and minutes, collecting and inputting statistical data, managing administration for new or developing services, covering duties of absent assistants, and monitoring stock levels of equipment and documentation.
Clinically, you will prepare equipment for individual speech and language programmes and carry out routine work with clients under SLT supervision. This includes universal input (e.g., training others, coffee mornings), targeted group sessions (e.g., running groups of 3-4 children with language difficulties and advising staff), and specialist interventions (1:1, paired, and small groups). You will assist in delivering therapy sessions, recording progress, and following treatment plans prescribed by therapists. Observing patient behaviour, ability, and response, you will document and report relevant information to therapists or team managers. You will ensure patient documentation complies with professional and CNWL NHS Trust standards.
Professional development is encouraged through attendance at in-service training days, team and clinical meetings, mandatory training, and continual personal development programmes. You will also support SLTs in student placements by providing induction training, co-running sessions, and providing feedback on student work.
Please note, candidates will be invited to complete a pre-task prior to face-to-face interview. The advert may close early if a large number of applicants apply.
Experience
Previous experience is not explicitly required; however, experience in supporting clinical or administrative healthcare roles would be advantageous.
About you
You should be motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to follow treatment plans accurately and observe and report patient progress effectively.
