About the Role
Please note this is a fixed term, part time position. The fixed term may be extended subject to further funding. We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic Detached and Outreach Youth Support Workers with the natural ability to build positive rapport with young people aged 10 to 19 (up to 25 with SEND) in the community. The role involves signposting young people to positive youth activities, delivering Extra Familial Harm Reduction workshops in schools and community settings, and reducing community tensions through detached estate-based work.
Our Youth Bus is a mobile youth provision that complements the existing five youth centres and detached youth work. It enables the team to reach young people in areas with limited youth provision by bringing services directly to their local communities. The bus is equipped with digital music, iPads/tablets, game consoles, and free WIFI, providing access to information, advice, guidance, free activities, advocacy, and early help support.
The mobile provision also delivers bespoke workshops and harm reduction campaigns, including sexual health clinics, substance misuse support, and employment assistance. This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
Experience
Experience engaging with young people in community settings is desirable. Ability to build positive relationships and deliver youth work activities effectively.
About you
Confident, enthusiastic, and passionate about improving the lives of young people. Able to work independently and as part of a team. A clean driving licence is highly desirable as the role involves driving the Youth Bus and delivering sessions in identified areas lacking youth provisions.
Qualifications
Relevant youth work qualifications are advantageous but not essential. A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to undertake training are required.
