About the Role
Join Enfield’s Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT), a newly formed team developed in response to national expectations for stronger, more consistent and timely multi-agency child protection decision-making. The MACPT brings together experienced practitioners from children’s social care, police, health and education to ensure earlier information sharing, consistent application of thresholds, and decisive protective action when a child is experiencing or likely to experience significant harm.

Enfield’s vision is to establish a MACPT that is child-centred, compassionate, evidence-informed and closely aligned with Family Help, Child in Care and Care Leavers Services, ensuring families experience a seamless safeguarding response rather than fragmented intervention.

As a Lead Child Protection Practitioner, you will be accountable to the MACPT Service Managers and Head of Safeguarding. You must have significant experience protecting children at risk of abuse inside or outside the home. You will work closely with partners from education, police and health to deliver all operational aspects of the MACPT, following national legislation and guidance, the local Enfield MACPT Operating Protocol, and the Enfield MACPT Quality Assurance and Outcome Framework.

You will be expected to meet the Department for Education’s Lead Child Protection Practitioner (LCPP) standards, which set out the minimum knowledge and skills required to effectively lead child protection processes. This includes responsibility for identifying and responding to actual or likely significant harm, engaging children and families during Section 47 enquiries, assessing the likelihood of significant harm, and planning and intervening to prevent and stop harm.

Attendance at MACPT operational meetings alongside partners and participation in planning and reviews of the MACPT are key responsibilities. You will be required to demonstrate excellent practice by making robust decisions and taking action to prevent and stop child abuse.

Experience
Significant experience working to protect children at risk of abuse, both inside and outside the home. Experience working within multi-agency safeguarding environments and knowledge of family safeguarding approaches is essential.

About you
Enthusiastic, able and experienced social work manager or advanced practitioner passionate about safeguarding vulnerable children. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of family safeguarding as a strength-based approach underpinning practice in Enfield. You should be committed to professional curiosity, collective accountability, and innovation, with the ability to work collaboratively with partners and families.

You will be dedicated to supporting positive outcomes for children and young people and able to contribute to service development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Registered social worker status is required. You must meet the Department for Education’s Lead Child Protection Practitioner standards and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to lead child protection processes effectively.
