About the Role
As a Home Learning Practitioner, you will work closely with families to promote positive home learning environments that support children's language, communication, play, literacy, numeracy, physical development and emotional wellbeing. Working across Family Hubs, community settings, educational settings and family homes, you will deliver evidence-based interventions and practical support that helps parents and carers become confident in their role as their child's first and most important educator. You will be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary workforce, collaborating with health professionals, early years providers, schools, SEND services and community partners to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.

Enfield Council is committed to giving every child the best possible start in life. The Best Start Family Hubs provide integrated, preventative and inclusive support for families with children aged 0–5 years. A strong Home Learning Environment (HLE) is key to improving children's cognitive, language, social and emotional development and supporting school readiness, leading to improved good levels of development (GLD). This exciting role offers the opportunity to work directly with families, empowering parents and carers to support their children's learning, development and school readiness from the very beginning.

We are passionate about our people and delivering services that put our community at the heart of everything we do. We encourage a culture of collaboration, openness, respect, responsibility and continuous learning. Flexible working arrangements are supported.

You will have knowledge of child development, early learning and school readiness. The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with parents, carers and partner agencies is essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confidence in delivering both group-based and one-to-one support across a range of settings is required. A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities is essential. Commitment to inclusion, reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families is expected. You will work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
