About the Role
The Patient Facilitator will be a key member of the practice administration team, supporting the smooth running of the practice and ensuring excellent patient experience. Duties include answering telephones promptly, managing appointment systems, processing repeat prescriptions, and handling incoming and outgoing mail. You will assist with filing, photocopying, scanning, and clerical support to practice staff. Responsibilities also include opening and securing the practice premises, maintaining reception and patient-facing areas, and supporting emergency situations and training. You will participate in patient recalls via phone, text, email, and letters, and help improve practice outcomes by supporting the systems administrator. Flexibility in working location is required to provide cross-site cover as needed. Additional duties include processing electronic GP systems, managing clinical and non-clinical waste, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with practice policies such as carers and patient registration protocols. A high level of customer service is essential, along with engagement in new technologies to enhance patient and practice experience. You will also handle complaints according to practice policy and liaise with other NHS services as required.
Experience
- Experience working with the public
- Experience in a pressurised environment
- Previous receptionist experience, preferably in healthcare or GP practice
- Knowledge of Emis Web system is desirable
