About the Role
Are you passionate about making care safer and learning from what matters most? We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and established (or willing to develop) Patient Safety Officer to play a pivotal role in strengthening our patient safety culture. As an NMC/HCPC/GMC registered clinician, you will provide expert support to local and national delivery teams regarding Vita Health Group’s Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and Patient Safety Incidents. You will support the implementation of the framework, investigate patient safety incidents using a systems approach, and contribute to safety action plan development and organisation-wide Quality Improvement activities. This role requires leadership, effective and sensitive stakeholder engagement, and application of organisational and investigative skills aligned with the principles of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and learning from patient safety event reporting.

Requirements

Experience
- Registered healthcare professional experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Accurate and comprehensive report writing under deadlines
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural settings
- Confident engagement with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to critically evaluate information and provide constructive challenge
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex information and evidence
- Experience working with patients, patient groups, families, and carers to understand and include their perspectives
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Demonstrable passion for patient safety
- Willingness to learn and complete relevant training

About you
- Empathetic and compassionate when engaging patients in investigations
- Commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion
- Skilled in coordinating patient safety incident investigation learning responses
- Experience in incident evaluation and thematic analysis
- Knowledge of patient safety or governance environments
- Ability to actively contribute to quality improvement plans through meetings and report writing
- Familiarity with NHS Patient Safety Incident Response Framework
- Formal training in systems thinking and Patient Safety Incident Response Framework methodology is desirable
- Experience with RADAR risk management system is advantageous
- Ability to review and grade patient safety incidents including harm assessment and Duty of Candour requirements

Qualifications
- Registered with NMC, HCPC, or GMC as a clinician
- Formal training related to patient safety frameworks and systems thinking is desirable
