About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Officer within Lambeth Council's Development Management service on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role offers the chance to work within a dynamic team managing a wide range of planning applications across diverse wards in the borough. You will negotiate positive development outcomes, contribute to a high-performing service, and be involved in pre-application advice, planning applications, and appeals. The role requires presenting applications to the Planning Applications Committee and preparing high-quality reports and documents. You will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to equality, inclusivity, and flexible hybrid working arrangements.

About the Team
The Development Management team is divided into three Area Teams covering a variety of wards and application types. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic management team at the forefront of innovative working practices in planning.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in development management or related planning work is essential. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to engage with colleagues, developers, investors, partners, residents, and Members of the Planning Applications Committee.

You will be an enthusiastic and forward-thinking planning professional with a solutions-led approach. You should be able to work collaboratively within a matrix team environment and be committed to equality, inclusivity, and diversity.

Qualifications
An RTPI-recognised degree level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent is required. Thorough knowledge of relevant planning legislation, policies, and procedures is essential.
