About the Role
Are you confident with budgets, cool under pressure, and great at making things happen? Lambeth Council is seeking a Planning & Development Delivery Manager to lead the operational and financial backbone of our Planning and Building Control services. In this high-impact role, you will drive financial forecasting, systems optimisation, performance reporting, and service innovation to ensure our services are future-ready and financially sound. You will respond to enquiries related to Planning and Building Control functions and lead multidisciplinary teams through change and delivery, including spearheading the Alpha Building Control digital transformation.
Key responsibilities include leading activity analysis, financial and performance monitoring across income-generating built environment services; managing multiple workstreams from systems development to customer experience; optimising systems and processes for real-time insight and strategic decision-making; supporting digital transformation and service innovation; shaping the future of Planning and Building Control activities with data, forecasts, and governance; collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across planning, regeneration, and customer service; and making confident, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
This is a fast-paced, high-trust role at the heart of one of the council’s most important directorates, ideal for a confident all-rounder with built environment knowledge and experience who can take ownership, adapt quickly, and help shape essential service delivery for the future.
Experience
- Understanding of bookkeeping from running a business, charity, or club, with experience keeping things on track behind the scenes
- Management of budgets or services in public or private sector settings
- Strong Excel skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Experience in relevant systems development within the built environment sector, performance management, and stakeholder engagement
- Knowledge and understanding of the built environment sector
