About the Role
Join AECOM’s Ground Engineering team as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer and be part of a global infrastructure consulting firm delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact worldwide. You will lead and manage geotechnical projects from investigation through to design and construction, ensuring high quality deliverables and adherence to budget and programme. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects including National Great Grid Upgrade, High Speed Rail, Network Rail CP7, and international commissions such as the Royal Commission of Al Ula and Neom.
You will apply innovative approaches in ground investigation, geotechnical design, and construction including foundation design, slope stability assessment, and ground improvement. The role requires a high degree of independence, leadership in mentoring junior staff, and engagement with clients to develop strong relationships. You will contribute across all project stages from desk study and feasibility through ground investigation, interpretation, and final design.

Experience
- Proven track record delivering ground engineering projects in the UK.
- Demonstrable leadership experience with ability to inspire and lead teams.
- Experience preparing, checking, and reviewing technical documents including desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports.
- Experience preparing fee bids and proposals.
- Ability to collaborate closely with Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery and client engagement.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Qualifications
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (BSc or MSc) or related field.
- Chartered Engineer status preferred.
