About the Role
As a Private Patient Centre Liaison Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of private outpatient services at King's College Hospital. Your responsibilities will include welcoming and registering patients, liaising with consultants, GP practices, and medical secretaries regarding patient referrals, and organising clinic scheduling for multiple consultants across various specialties. You will facilitate effective clinic operations by coordinating with internal departments and external bodies to arrange diagnostic tests.
You will manage financial aspects such as confirming patient financial status with insurance companies, obtaining Letters of Guarantee from foreign embassies, processing credit card payments, raising invoices for hospital charges and professional fees, and handling outpatient billing through the Compucare Patient Billing System. Additionally, you will process outpatient issues, generate credit notes, and secure funds prior to patient attendance.
Administrative duties include registering patients with verified photographic ID, ensuring patients sign letters of undertaking, booking and confirming clinic appointments, maintaining accurate patient and financial records on Trust databases (EPIC and Compucare), and applying protocols for private prescriptions. You will also print and distribute clinic lists, provide reminders to patients and consultants, maintain stationery supplies, and assist with patient chaperoning when required.
General duties involve maintaining a clean and safe environment, arranging ambulance and taxi bookings, managing patient literature displays, mailing patient communications promptly, and providing receptionist cover. You will support newly registered consultants with secretarial duties and manage private patient waiting lists to ensure timely action on requests.
As part of the team, you will participate in annual appraisals, adhere to the professional dress code, and undertake any additional duties as requested by management commensurate with your role.
