Reporting into the Head of Policy & Contract Development you will be delivering our transformation piece for the new Procurement Act 2023. Reviewing, amending and developing new documentation, templates and processes to support Procurement Services and Procurement Self-Serve activity across the Council. In addition to this you will support our busy annual plan of procurement activity, working with Strategic Procurement Business Partners delivering above threshold procurement, supporting services with below threshold procurement and general procurement queries. Delivering training to support Service areas with understanding procurement processes.
Procurement Services is a centre led service within the Resources Department in the Council. We support around £400m of procurement spend each year. Responsible for leading on all procurement above the public procurement threshold and providing support and guidance to the whole Council. Supporting procurement projects as diverse as highway maintenance to school holiday activities through good customer service and using your procurement knowledge and experience.
You will need to be able to work at pace, develop and deliver your own projects to meet agreed outcomes. If you like a mix of practical procurement experience and policy work, then this is the role for you. We are looking for someone who has experience of delivering above threshold Public Sector procurement projects to support our procurement activity. We want someone who can use that practical experience to develop and deliver compliant templates and policy that meet the requirements of the Procurement Act 2023 and the Council. Keeping abreast of Public Procurement Notices, National Procurement Strategies and supporting the implementation of our Sustainable and Ethical Procurement Policy within procurement projects ensuring the Council remains compliant and is implementing best procurement practice.
