About the Role
British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, committed to passenger safety and upholding values of care, integrity, continuous improvement, unity, and pride in protection. We are seeking a Programme Support Officer to join the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Less Lethal Weapons Portfolio. In this role, you will provide essential programme coordination and business support across national policing workstreams including Less Lethal Weapons, Taser, Counter Drones, and related capabilities.

You will work closely with portfolio leads, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to coordinate programme activities, monitor progress, support governance arrangements, and ensure the effective delivery of national priorities. This is a vital role that supports the delivery of complex national policing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate programme activity, maintain documentation, track actions, and monitor progress against agreed milestones
- Support the preparation of reports, briefing papers, and governance updates for senior stakeholders and decision-making forums
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather information, coordinate activity, and support delivery across multiple workstreams
- Undertake research and information gathering to support programme development, assurance activities, and future capability initiatives

Requirements

Experience
Experience supporting projects, programmes, or portfolios within a complex operational environment and coordinating activity across multiple stakeholders

About you
Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
Strong written communication skills with experience producing reports, briefings, presentations, or governance documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
