About the Role
Wates are looking for a Project Director to join our SmartSpace team, taking project leadership on a range of exciting fit-out projects. If you are a Project Director with proven technical skills looking for an opportunity to challenge the norm, bring fresh new ideas and elevate yourself within the industry, we would like to hear from you! This role involves working in partnership with one of our clients, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Previous MoJ experience is beneficial but not essential.

As a Project Director, you will provide visible leadership, insight, direction, and foresight in the safe and profitable delivery of schemes, while ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and successfully developing your team.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the project team and managing the supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality targets and standards
- Ensuring safety targets and standards are maintained by understanding what safety excellence looks like
- Fostering a continuous improvement culture by actively seeking input from all members of the project team and encouraging safety improvements
- Managing design strategies, coordinating with architects, engineers, and consultants, and overseeing the selection of finishes, materials, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment)
- Developing project delivery programs, managing subcontractors, and handling procurement strategies
- Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies

Experience
Proven experience as a Project Director leading fast-paced fit-out projects. Experience working with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is advantageous but not essential.

About you
Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage complex projects and supply chains effectively. Willingness to travel nationwide as required.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent experience in project management or construction leadership roles are preferred. Commitment to health and safety standards and continuous professional development.
