About the Role
As a Project Manager at GCHQ, you will manage a diverse range of projects from initiation through to completion. You may lead projects independently or as part of multi-disciplinary teams, delivering business change and technical capabilities. Your responsibilities will include coordinating scope, plans, schedules, and costs; managing risks, issues, and dependencies; and providing clear updates and recommendations to support timely decision-making.
You will build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, customers, and partner organisations, acting as a trusted point of contact. In fast-moving environments, you will bring structure, momentum, and clarity to keep delivery aligned with time, cost, and quality expectations, escalating issues when necessary.
Supported by a well-established project management community, you will have access to peers and established standards to guide your practice. UK travel may be required depending on project needs.

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber and security agency dedicated to keeping the UK safe. Working alongside MI5 and MI6, you will contribute to protecting the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and espionage in a supportive and inclusive environment that values teamwork.

About you
You have at least four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above (including English and Mathematics), or equivalent Level 2 qualifications, or relevant experience demonstrating solid numeracy and communication skills.
You are keen to develop your project delivery expertise aligned to the Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF) at the HEO level.
You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues, adapting your style to suit different audiences and supporting decision-making.
You build productive stakeholder relationships using influencing and negotiation skills to achieve positive outcomes.
You work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams, value shared learning, and remain proactive, curious, and calm under pressure to navigate changing priorities and solve complex challenges.

Qualifications
Relevant Level 2 qualifications or equivalent experience are required. Professional development is supported through internal and external training, mentoring, coaching, and access to project management forums. Membership and accreditation pathways through the Association for Project Management (APM) are encouraged.
