About the Role
The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) will plan, manage, and implement therapeutic interventions using a facilitated self-help approach. The role involves face-to-face work with service users experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety, anger management, and depression across various service sites and GP surgeries. Telephone-based low intensity work and liaison with other professionals to expedite signposting to appropriate services are key components. The PWP will work integratively with other elements of the service provided by THTT and alongside practice teams, including liaison with service users and carers, audit activities, and providing advice and support to GPs and practice staff. Networking with the wider health and social care system and supporting mental health promotion are essential. The role requires supporting and educating service users regarding medication regimes and working with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally sensitive manner. The PWP will assist service users in identifying and managing emotional distress and psychological disturbance, managing a substantial caseload with an expected treatment completion of 250 patients per year. The role also includes facilitating the use of computerised cognitive behavioural therapy services and other media to support guided self-help packages of care as approved in NICE guidelines. Attendance at relevant training and innovation in service delivery are expected, alongside consolidating learning from PWP training.
