Grade 7: £43,680 - £48,003 per annum

About the Role
As a Public Protection Officer within Environmental Health, you will investigate complaints related to environmental protection and statutory nuisance. Your work will involve areas such as noise/acoustics, statutory nuisance, air quality, and contaminated land. You will provide expert comments on licensing and planning applications and carry out enforcement activities including inspections of permitted processes, serving notices, and responding to nuisance complaints. This regulatory role requires attendance at court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead prosecutions under the council’s enforcement policy. You will manage a multi-disciplined enforcement caseload effectively, which may include monitoring visits at unsociable hours, though not on an on-call basis. You will be part of a dedicated team working to protect and improve the local environment and public health within the borough.

Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is essential: noise/acoustics, statutory nuisance, air quality, contaminated land. Proven ability to manage enforcement caseloads and conduct investigations is required.

Qualifications
You must hold a Degree, diploma, or relevant academic or professional qualification (or equivalent) in a specialist area related to environmental health or environmental protection.
