About the Role
Could you help provide a compassionate and professional service to bereaved families while supporting the judicial work of the Coroner's Court? We are seeking a dedicated Resources Officer to join our busy and supportive team at the South London Coroner's Court.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. As a Resources Officer, you will provide high-quality administrative, court, and front-of-house support to the Senior Coroner, Assistant Coroners, and Coroner's Officers.
The role includes coordinating hearings and inquests, preparing court documentation, maintaining accurate case records, liaising with a wide range of partner agencies, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the Court. You will also assist with financial administration, including raising purchase orders, and work collaboratively with colleagues to respond to changing priorities and operational demands.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has exceptional organisational skills, and can deliver a sensitive, professional service during some of the most difficult times in people's lives.
Experience
Proven experience in organisational and administrative roles, ideally within a fast-paced environment. Experience of managing competing priorities and working accurately under pressure is essential.
About you
Outstanding customer service and communication skills, with the confidence to deal sensitively and professionally with bereaved families and members of the public.
Strong IT skills and experience maintaining accurate electronic records and producing high-quality correspondence.
Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and a wide range of partner organisations, including the Metropolitan Police, legal professionals, medical practitioners, and funeral directors.
Good judgement, initiative, and the ability to know when to resolve issues independently and when to escalate matters appropriately.
Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional when dealing with distressing and sensitive situations.
A flexible approach, with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to the wider work of a small, busy team, including assisting with ushering in court when required.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated as mandatory; however, strong organisational, communication, and IT skills are essential for success in this role.
