Description
Exciting opportunity to join Enfield’s Planning Service (12 month maternity cover)
It is an exciting time to join the Planning Service at Enfield Council. Enfield holds significant potential for good growth and has an ambitious Council focussed on delivery. As a Planning Service we are energised and passionate about delivering proactive planning to help shape the Borough over the next 15 years and beyond, including helping enable the delivery of circa 30,000 homes. We are now embarking on a new phase of regeneration and placemaking, with the Council taking a confident role in making things happen.
As we progress with our new Local Plan, a number of significant development proposals are lining up to progress through the planning process – some led by the Council, others by private developers - and we are building the capacity of our multidisciplinary team to help get the most out of these projects.
We are seeking an officer to join our team of architects and urban designers to provide architectural design advice and work with colleagues across the Planning, Housing and Property services, developers, agents and communities, to help deliver positive outcomes for Enfield and its surroundings. The role involves managing the architectural team within the council, motivating the team to deliver high performance and outputs, and driving forward the commercialisation agenda. The successful candidate will provide a range of architectural services which promote design quality, including Capacity Studies and Options Appraisals; Strategic Design and Visioning; Design Briefs; Quality Review and Client-Side Design Advice; Masterplanning; Procurement Advice, Strategic Mapping, Graphics and Desktop Publishing.
We are especially seeking candidates with similar previous experience of working in both public and private sector settings with a range of stakeholders. Demonstrating previous experience working and leading on area-based masterplanning and design guidance/codes will be advantageous.
We want to hear from applicants who can contribute positively to the work and culture of a dynamic and ambitious team. The immediate role provides cover for a year.
If you would like to know more about the role, please contact Christine White 020 8132 2017 for an informal discussion.
