About the Role

Our Public Health Commissioning team is looking for a Senior Commissioning Officer to join us and help shape the future of Public Health services.
This is a twelve-month secondment opportunity/fixed term role for someone looking to lead a high-impact project. Reporting to the Head of Public Health Commissioning, you’ll play a central role informing the future commissioning of public health services in Southwark.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing commissioning plans for public health services
- Translating commissioning intentions set out in the division’s business and partnership plans
- Leading on specific areas of commissioning for public health including sexual and reproductive health services, health visiting and school nursing services
- Working with a range of partners across the statutory, private and voluntary sectors, including the NHS
- Producing clear, evidence-based reports to inform future commissioning
- Quality assurance and contract monitoring of services
- Supporting general commissioning and project delivery tasks
This is a 12-month fixed term/secondment role.
Experience
- Experience of commissioning public health or other health-related services
- Experience using project management skills and knowledge of public health methodology to develop, implement and assess policies, programmes and strategies to improve health and wellbeing and/or address health inequalities
- Experience undertaking evaluations to effectively measure the outcome and benefit of public health interventions

- Confident in writing reports and presenting findings to influence decision-making
- Assertive yet personable with strong stakeholder management skills
- Passionate about improving outcomes for residents
