About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) Finance Team for a full-time Senior Finance Assistant to join our busy team. This challenging role offers the chance to make a direct positive impact on patient experience within the Trust. The ACU provides a full range of fertility services including IVF, ICSI, Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis, and Fertility Preservation, offering NHS, Self Funded, and Personalised Private Care.
The Senior Finance Assistant will be responsible for recording all income activity, managing and processing ACU Finance billing, controlling and recording patient payments in advance of treatment, and resolving related queries. The post holder will plan and organise their workload to meet agreed objectives under minimal supervision.

The Senior Finance Assistant will work closely with the ACU Finance Team Manager and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, billing, and reconciliation. Key responsibilities include activity reporting, billing theatre and non-theatre activity, deposit control account management, month-end financial reporting support, investigation and resolution of financial queries, and providing expert advice on finance systems such as BabySentry, Compucare, and Oracle Fusion.
The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff, handling sensitive information with discretion and empathy.
Experience
- Detailed understanding of accounting procedures, finance systems, account coding structure, and reconciliation of balances
- Finance experience in a busy income-generating department with knowledge of financial and operational procedures and controls
- Experience working to KPIs, monthly reporting, and month-end deadlines
- Good knowledge of the income to cash process and debtor management
- Experience using BabySentry or similar fertility clinic software
- Desirable: Knowledge of ACU clinical treatments and procedures and experience communicating with patients

Qualifications
- Essential: NVQ Level 4, Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Technician Level or equivalent experience
- Desirable: Currently studying or intending to study for a recognised professional qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
