This opportunity is within the Mace Construct Commercial sector business unit, which delivers commercial offices, retro-fit and major project schemes. You will be responsible for the strategic leadership of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) across these projects. You will be accountable for influencing, building, maintaining and strengthening internal and external stakeholder relationships, as well as leading and developing the team.

Key responsibilities include assuring the assessment, management and mitigation of risk in accordance with regulation and business standards; driving change through communication, persuasion, engagement and innovation; supporting the integration of the operational HSW job family into an efficient, effective and cohesive team; monitoring and reporting on performance; translating business strategy into local business plans; collaborating with operational directors to deliver cost effective and efficient performance; supporting succession planning and career development; collaborating with assurance functions for continuous improvement; engaging and influencing business and industry stakeholders; ensuring timely escalation of non-compliance issues; managing a team of direct reports and driving behaviours to achieve success and key performance indicators (KPIs), including fostering a continuous improvement culture; and providing performance management, technical and career development coaching.

Experience
Proven management experience in a large organisation, ideally within construction or project management, with a strong technical understanding of construction processes.

Qualifications
Professional qualification or equivalent, such as NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5, with relevant experience in health and safety management.
