About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Internal Communications Officer to lead and enhance the Council’s internal communications and employee engagement activity. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Communications, this influential role will ensure employees receive clear, timely and accessible information about organisational priorities, key developments and transformation programmes. Working closely with senior leaders, Members, Staff Networks and colleagues across the Council, you will help create a well-informed, engaged and connected workforce that understands how its work contributes to delivering excellent services for residents.
As the Council’s lead specialist for internal communications, you will develop and deliver strategic communication and engagement plans that support corporate priorities, organisational change and cultural development. You will create compelling content across a range of channels, including intranet platforms, newsletters, leadership communications, digital screens and staff events. Providing trusted advice to senior stakeholders, you will help shape messaging on complex, sensitive and high-profile issues, ensuring communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the Council’s values. You will also play a key role in crisis and incident communications, delivering effective messaging in a calm and professional manner during fast-moving situations.
